Birthday #23

My mom and sisters were nice enough to make me delicious crepes for my birthday breakfast. It all ended badly and I spent the rest of the day crying and in a funk. Ransom had been planning all week to work a half day and had all sorts of things he had planned for my birthday. It didn't quite go as he planned, but he tried to cheer me up all day. I just don't function well when I'm not on good terms with my family.

I did have lots of fun, happy moments with Ransom and Conrad. We went up South Fork and Conrad got to run around in the mind numbing cold water. Ransom made me my all time favorite dinner, shredded beef tacos. Thank you Ransom for always trying to make the best out of every situation and for always being there for me. -Katie

South Fork

When I was little I remeber going with Shima and Peachy to South Fork. It is a park above Vivian Park in Provo Canyon. It is a really fun place. There is a huge open field and a little shallow river going through it. It had been a long time since I had been there so we went up as a family to play. It was the perfect place for Conrad because he loves throwing rocks in the river. The water was soooo cold but he jumped right in and played in that water for hours. Katie and I relaxed on the bank and kept our eye on him. We would take turns chasing after him when he would decide to run off. He loved throwing his toy in the river and watching me run to get it. His clothes got soaking wet so we took them off to let them dry. They took so long to dry that we kept needing to move them out of the shadows that were slowly getting bigger. After all of that effort, we forgot the clothes up there! Katie was devistated because she loved that outfit. But we had tons of fun still! -Ransom

Our Little Lounger

Before Ransom and I were married he picked up this little chair at a yard sale and Conrad sure loves it! You can often find him sitting in the chair and if someone else is in it, he will try to kick them out. His favorite way to lounge is with his hands behind his head. It's pretty cute! -Katie

Sleepover

Friday night we had a sleepover at my mom and dad's. We had a yummy dinner and went outside to watch Twilight. My mom had never seen it and as always she asked a question a minute! She loved the movie and was surprised that most of us didn't. During the movie Kelsie made us yummy peach shakes. Conrad slept by me and Ransom. He is a wiggly little thing so I didn't get much sleep, but it was worth it! Thanks mom and dad for having us over. -Katie

Fresh Flowers

I love Spring & Summer because that means fresh flowers for me! Ransom usually comes home from work or a bike ride with a fist full of flowers. He just stops whenever a flower catches his eye. Sometimes he can even convince Conrad to give me a flower! I am such a lucky girl!

While David stayed with us, he was always picking flowers for me too so for those few weeks the house was well stocked with fresh flowers!

Stewart Falls

We went to Stewart Falls today. It was my first time ever going and I loved the hike! It was very green and pretty. Conrad came with us and had a lot of fun throwing rocks at everything. He would stoop down to pick up a hand full of rocks every few steps and he always had one in his hand the whole hike. He walked up the first big hill and then he got tired and we carried him the rest of the hike. But he was talking and saying WOW! the whole way there and back. Once we got to the waterfall we ate some snacks and rested and just looked the waterfall. On the way back we had this ugly, vicious dog following us. I really don't know why its owners did not have it on a leash but it would run up behind us growling and barking and I would have to chase it off. It was really good to go up there and talk with Katie and get out of the house.

Career Change

For a while I have been trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. I went from pilot to teacher to pharmacist to radiologist to helicopter pilot again. All of them either just did not fit me or were very unpractical. I was thinking for a while about being a firefighter and I even signed up for the 1st class at the fire academy. Then during the Freedom Festival I saw some firemen and I went and talked to one about what they do and how he likes it. He told me how he loved it and that it was the best job ever. I am way excited now and I know that I will be doing something that will help people and be exciting. I think that Katie likes this choice too, now that she does not have to check up on me to see if I am finding out all I need to do for school because I am so pumped that I am on top of it. -Ransom

Mr. Personality

Tonight Conrad decided that he wanted to sit in his little chair, but the little chair needed to be on the couch before he could sit down. He is such a little goof ball and is continually making us laugh with his little personality. -Katie

Hair Cuts

I know I can always count on Ashlee for a haircut. I don't think she has ever turned me down when I ask. The first time she went a little crazy and cut me with the scissors! But that was the first and last time she has cut me. Today she cut mine and Conrad's hair. Now that we are both looking handsome we want to say THANKS ASH!!
love ya, rans

Rocky the Rabbit

Rocky was Conrad's little bunny. Kate surprised us with him one day. We loved him and his huge eyeballs! While David was living with us, we built a big cage with 2 stories and a ramp for him. He loved that cage because before we had him in the dog carrier. We would bring him inside all of the time and Conrad would chase him all around the house. Rocky was always two steps ahead of him and he had some hiding spots he would go to keep out of reach. Since he had such a big cage we wanted to get him a little friend to keep him company. So I found a cute little rabbit and brought it home but when I introduced them Rocky attacked the new bunny and bit him all over and even bit his eye lid. We had to separate them and we knew that Rocky loved Brenda and Larry's backyard so we took him to stay back there for a few days until I could build a second cage.

Today he was attacked by a cat and Lindsey found him in the backyard, but he had already passed away. It was very sad and we had a funeral service for him in that backyard that he loved. We will miss Rocky.

Ransom's Little Helper

Ransom can always tell when I'm going to ask him to cut wood blocks for Pebbles. Sometimes I need a pretty long list of blocks cut and he never complains. He just asks when I need them by and will even cut them on his lunch break if I am desperate. Once he even cut his his thumb on the chop saw, stopped to bandage it, and finished cutting (I wasn't there or I would have made him stop).

Conrad has been pretty interested in helping lately. Ransom will cut the block and Conrad will stack it neatly in the box. By the end, he gets pretty sick of it and just tries throwing it towards the box. He loves to stand behind the saw where the saw dust comes out and gets covered in saw dust. I'm so lucky to have two good little helpers! -Katie

Chocolate Mug Shot

One morning I really did not want to wake up so I stayed in bed and let Conrad run around the house. Not the best thing to do, but what can I say, I was tired. A little while later I heard Conrad crying so I jumped out of bed to see what was wrong. Right when I walked out of my room I saw him. I forgot that I had left the cake on the table, right in his reach. There was chocolate all over the table, the floor, his clothes, his face, and even his hair. I guess I got what I deserved for staying in bed!
