This morning we had his appointment at the pediatric dentist and have an appointment to get the cavities filled end of September with our fingers crossed that a $75 sedation works so we don't have to go back for a $200 visit for an anesthesiologist to put him under for a couple hours. -Katie

1st trip to the dentist
On Friday Conrad went to see the dentist for the 1st time and hated every second of it. He hates having people touch his mouth. He wiggled so much that I could never get a picture of him at the dentist because I was always trying to keep him calm. Everything looked good except that he had 2 cavities on his top teeth. I learned that we were going to have to take him to a pediatric dentist so that he can be sedated while they fill them. He was a happy boy as we left with his new toys.

kid's room
Ransom and I have been busy the last couple of months trying to reorganize our house so that we can fit another person into our apartment. We have been busy painting beds, furniture we bought from my mom after she found it at a yard sale for Pebbles (thanks mom!), walls, etc. Ransom patiently helped me get everything painted even though I don't think he quite understands why I can't leave things the way they are, but he knows it makes me happy. Aside from new curtains, organizing a few more things, and hanging pictures back up on the wall, the kid's room is finally finished!
When we had Conrad, my family surprised us and had painted his room green and gotten everything ready for him to come home. It was a very sweet surprise to come home to. I was sad to see his green walls go because it always reminded me of that day, but Kelsie was pretty determined to see the green go and eventually I gave in because I wanted the crib to be green. I'm happy that my family won't have to come and get another room ready for me!

one last summer activity
Somehow it came up that Abby had always wanted to throw a pie in someone's face so we quickly made plans. We did it the day before she started school as a fun last summer activity. We decorated the top of the pies just in case someone saw them in the fridge and wondered what they were for.
First to arrive was Josh and my mom. We told them we had a surprise for them so they had to sit at the counter, shut their eyes, and put their hands out. Next was Lindsey and Tyler. Lindsey had been bugging us all day about what we were up to so we knew we had to get her. She was excited all day to see what her "surprise" was. She was definitely shocked that it was a pie in the face! Now Abby and I will have to live in constant fear until everyone gets their revenge, but it was definitely worth it! -Katie

bad qualities
The other day I was sitting around talking to some of my sisters. I was telling them how I feel like Conrad got all my bad qualities (stubborn, tenacious, fights sleep, etc.). I could see Abby trying to think of something nice to say and suddenly she says, "He likes lemons. That's cool!" We all couldn't stop laughing, but at least Abby thinks it's cool that Conrad and I like lemons!
Conrad HATES HATES HATES bed time. Some days it takes 3 hours to get him to take a nap. Most of the time if I can just get him to hold still for a few minutes he will fall asleep in no time. Sometimes when he is almost asleep he will suddenly shout out that he wants to play. Now whenever I tell him that it's time to lay down or read books he just looks at me distraught and says, "Momma, I wake" and then starts to cry. I'm hoping that he learns quicker than me that sleep isn't so bad! We have learned that reading him scriptures at night puts him to sleep! -Katie
a night just for Conrad
I have been very focused lately on trying to get a bunch of projects finished before baby #2 gets here and so I haven't been giving Conrad the attention he deserves. Plus with all his energy he gets me worn out in minutes! Tonight I decided that it would be a night just for Conrad.
First stop was to University Mall to play on their slide. He was running around having fun when suddenly he grabbed Ransom's hands and started walking off. I quickly got up and followed. He definitely knew where he was going, but we couldn't figure it out. Suddenly he stopped in front of TCBY and pointed at the ice cream. I honestly have no idea what made him go there because we have never been to TCBY. We couldn't stop laughing as we bought him his ice cream and he couldn't have been more excited. After we went to Jump On It and let him jump until he was ready to go. It was so good to see him running around so happy. We need to make sure to give him more nights like this. -Katie

family time
Today we were thinking that we were not going to be able to hang out, but I took a half day and came home to have some fun with Kate and Conrad. We couldn't think of something to do so we ran some errands. We went to sears and I saw my mission president, that was cool.
Then we decided to get some ice cream and watch a movie outside, it was really nice and Conrad was really excited because he loves movies and he loves to be outside. We watched James and the Giant Peach, it was really stupid, but Conrad liked it so whatever. It was nice just to do something simple and fun with my family, anything can be fun with them.

mooster cupcakes
For Christmas Abby gave Ransom a coupon for one dessert of his choice every month for a year. One day she was talking about something and accidentally said Mooster. Ever since then Ransom has bugged her about drawing him a picture of a Mooster. Finally he decided he wanted Mooster cupcakes. I told her I would help her out. We came up with a plan and bought our supplies. We had a lot of laughs decorating the cupcakes, but I think they turned out pretty cute! -Katie
total money makeover
For Christmas my Nana gave each of us a book by Dave Ramsey called Total Money Makeover. It is by far one of my most favorite gifts I have ever received. After reading the book we vowed to cut up our credit cards, have a cash only budget divided into categories, no more car payments for the rest of our lives, etc. It is the best feeling in the whole world to know we aren't getting in debt and we can pay for everything we need.
We are leasing a Subaru Impreza right now and our lease is up in December so we really won't have a car payment anymore!! We are getting ready for that and sold our old jeep and replaced it with a Suzuki Sidekick because it doesn't use as much gas. We will miss our jeep because it has been a great car for us. Ransom's family is nice enough to let us use their Yellow Geo Metro Convertible and will be bringing that up with them when this baby of ours decides she is ready to come. I will miss having a nice dependable car, but the idea of no car payment thrills me more!! -Katie

change of plans
Today we were going to Thanksgiving Point for $2 Tuesday. We got there and the place was packed. There were huge long lines and I hate huge long lines. I was getting mad just thinking of standing there in those lines. I thought it would be better to go to Cascade Springs. I remember going there when I was a kid with my Grandpa Peachy. So we went up American Fork Canyon, it is an awesome drive. We got to Cascade Springs and I was really glad we went, there were no lines, and it was an awesome place. You can see all of the fish swimming around and Conrad could have just watched them all day. He just ran from place to place and kept pointing at the fish. I am glad that we went up there. It was really fun and a lot better than sitting in lines all day.

Conrad's new desk
I was at Saver's with my mom looking for stuff for Pebbles when we saw this cute little desk. I knew my apartment was tiny so it wouldn't be the best idea to buy it, but I could just imagine my little kids crafting on it while I was doing crafts and I couldn't stop myself. I wanted to put chalkboard paint on it, but my mom thought that was crazy. I went ahead and did it anyways. I'm glad I did because I find Conrad coloring on his desk all the time. -Katie
